Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Old Leura Dairy is set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens, where you can enjoy spotting the plethora of native birds that flit between the trees. The surrounding Blue Mountains area is famous worldwide for its rugged beauty.

Rooms at Old Leura Dairy

Each of the six self-contained lodgings is individual, with its own unique character, and largely created from reclaimed materials. The Studio is quaint and cosy, with a small kitchenette and a luxurious claw foot bath. The Milking Shed is set in the original hayloft and features a separate bedroom, lounge area and full kitchen. The Worker's Cottage is the original shelter for the workers of the dairy and has been completely renovated, retaining its original charming personality with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Straw Bale House was created using eighty percent recycled materials, has five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Other features include full kitchen, lounge area and an open fire.

Food and drink

Please note there is no restaurant on-site, however, the property is one kilometre from Leura Mall with many wonderful cafes and restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The hotel can provide a continental breakfast which consists of locally made muesli, jam and organic bread, fresh fruit, fruit juice, organic yoghurt and milk. Otherwise, the rooms have full self-catering facilities and you can order in all your food before you arrive, or shop when you get there. Groups of 8 and above can order extensive gourmet dinners cooked by a local chef.

Facilities

The hotel features a hot tub which, in keeping with the property’s former life as a dairy, is a renovated milk vat. Massages and spa treatments can be arranged on request. Kids of all ages are welcome at the hotel, and cots are available; childcare can be arranged in conjunction with an independent nanny service upon booking.

Activities at Old Leura Dairy

The pretty town of Leura is one of the most picturesque in the Blue Mountains, and is home to several boutiques and art galleries. The Nook is a co-operative of local artisans in Leura Mall, and local artist Adrian Gilbert has a gallery just round the corner. Head to Hart Ceramics to pick up a beautiful piece of pottery as a souvenir. The star attraction round here, of course, is the natural environment: Leura Cascades, a tumbling waterfall surrounded by eucalyptus trees, is a beautiful spot for a picnic, while Sublime Point lookout offers sensational views over the Jamison Valley.
