2 nightsPERTH

Your journey through Western Australia begins in the state’s capital, Perth. A relaxed coastal city with vibrant arts scenes and great restaurants and bars, Perth is a fantastic place to begin your holiday. The Western Australian Museum tells the story of the state’s maritime history, with exhibitions including a tour of a retired submarine, while the Art Gallery of Western Australia is the finest collection of its kind and dates back to 1895.

Perth is renowned for its good weather, and surfing, sailing and swimming are among the outdoor activities pretty much always on offer. For some inner city serenity, do as the Perthians do and head to Kings Park and Botanic Garden, one thousand acres of greenery and walking trails overlooking the Swan River.

Your home for 2 nights is COMO The Treasury, a luxury hotel in a 19th-century redbrick building in the historic heart of Perth.

2 nightsDENMARK

The next stop on your WA adventure is Denmark, a 4.5-hour drive away on the state’s southern tip. Renowned for its natural beauty, Denmark is all rugged coastline, inland forest, inlets and rivers, which are home to a wide array of wildlife including that icon of contrast and improbability, the (actually very common) black swan.

You’ll spend 2 nights at Aiyana Retreat, a collection of luxurious villas surrounded by nature. Denmark itself is a small town whose natural beauty has long attracted artists and craftspeople, and a range of boutiques and studios can be found in the area.

The fertile soil has also led to its establishment as a high quality wine area, with a number of producers and wineries nearby. Ocean Beach is one of Australia’s premier surfing destinations, and the famous walking trail the Bibbulmun Track is easily accessible and offers stunning views.

3 nightsMARGARET RIVER

After 2 nights enjoying the culture and scenery of Denmark you’ll hit the road again, heading back north up the western coast for a scenic drive through the Tone State and Blackwood State Forests to the small coastal town of Margaret River. Famous for surfing and wineries, this town, home to only around 4,500 people, has retained its unique local character while welcoming a huge number of tourists. Mouth and Southside are internationally renowned surfing spots, with important competitions held at Margaret’s Main Break near Prevelly.

You’ll stay at Cape Lodge, a luxury boutique hotel in a country house in the heart of the region’s wine country. Needless to say, this is a great place to sample the acclaimed wines produced in this area, as well as enjoying fresh, seasonal produce in the hotel's restaurant - it’s also a great base from which to explore the beautiful natural landscapes for which Margaret River is renowned.

Departing Margaret River, you’ll drive to Perth (3hrs), from where a 2-hour flight will take you to Exmouth on WA’s North West Cape. From there, you’ll be taken by private transfer to Ningaloo, the next stop on your adventure. Ningaloo Coast is a World Heritage Site famous for Ningaloo Reef, which is home to a rich diversity of marine life.

You’ll stay in Sal Salis, a beachfront safari camp in a unique location in Cape Range National Park. The hotel’s wilderness location makes it perfect for outdoor activities, with swimming with whale sharks or humpback whales an unforgettable experience. A comfortable boat trip will take you out into the ocean, where experts will guide you through a safe, magical experience swimming up close with these gentle marine giants.
