Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Coral Triangle, where the South Pacific and the Indian Ocean meet, is one of the richest reef systems on Earth. It is home to more than 76% of the planet’s coral species, 2,000 species of fish and six of the world’s seven species of marine turtles. You may even see the world’s largest shark, the whale shark!

On a cruise around Raja Ampat, Flores, Komodo or the Moluccas onboard Sequoia, discover not only the underwater world but also some of the 17,000-plus beautiful islands of the Indonesian archipelago.

Rooms onboard Sequoia

Sequoia has three generous luxury suites, the Sky suite, the Island suite and the Ocean suite, all guaranteeing seclusion and comfort. Created with expert attention to detail, these beautiful wooden suites come with hand-carved beds, featuring the finest Belgian linens or Egyptian cotton, and private bathrooms made with Caesarstone, reflecting the natural beauty and rich diversity of the islands.

Food & Drink

Choose from a customised menu, using only the finest locally-sourced ingredients, such as Indonesia’s rich selection of spices, herbs and exotic fruits, some of which can only be found here – and maybe just on one island. These are carefully and creatively prepared so as to give you a spectacular dining experience.

Sit down in the Great Room or on the deck to enjoy homemade pasta, pizza, ice cream, freshly-made exotic tropical juices and local wines – and don’t miss signature dish rendang, a spicy meat dish with 24 raw spices, slow cooked in fresh coconut milk. To protect the beautiful local environment, plastic usage is kept to a minimum.

Facilities

Have a massage or relax on a daybed on the sky deck, which is perfect for taking in the panoramic views and the sunshine, and in the evening, watching a movie under the stars.

Activities onboard Sequoia

Each route offers something spectacular. Swim alongside a whale shark and thousands of colourful fish or dive in crystal-clear waters to discover the beautiful coral reefs, with a private instructor on hand so all abilities (and ages) are catered for. Head out on the lagoons on a kayak or paddle board and discover the world’s largest population of mangrove trees, including the world’s only ‘blue water’ mangroves.

See the legendary Komodo dragon and spot some of Indonesia’s 350 bird species: you may even have a chance to witness the dancing of the beautiful Bird of Paradise. Hike the ‘Ring of Fire’, the most volcanic region on earth, and visit local tribes to experience their culture, ancient arts and handicrafts, including the chance to witness traditional rituals such as dancing. Children can enjoy origami, drawing, volleyball, flying kites and more.

At the end of an adventurous day, take in the sunset with a picnic on the beach, or have dinner under the stars on the sky deck.
