Itinerary details

Selous

4 nightsSELOUS

Fly to Dar Es Salaam via Nairobi; touch down in Tanzania, and get ready for an unforgettable safari amidst the diverse landscapes of the Selous Game Reserve. The moment you arrive at Beho Beho you’ll see why it’s one of the most esteemed and sought after safari camps in Africa, with wonderful staff who’ll make you feel immediately at home, and a gorgeous suite that perches high above the whispering baobabs. As for your safari, the guides can gear it totally to you as there as so few guests, and if you wish you can have a completely different safari experience every day. A great way to start is by taking a game-drive past the mighty rivers and plains that make up the Selous, followed by a walking safari with the ultra-knowledgeable guides. As the sun goes down over The Selous, you can take a romantic boat-trip on Lake Tangalala against a backdrop of kaleidoscopic birdlife, take a stroll to the nearby hippo pool, and then later – for something really special – why not spend a night in Beho Beho’s magical tree house?

Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

1 nightDAR ES SALAAM

Because of the light-aircraft flight times to Vamizi Island, you’ll need to spend a night in Dar Es Salaam. However, rather than being a mere stopover on your honeymoon, we’ve chosen the Beho-Beho owned hotel, Oyster Bay, where you can relax, be pampered, and enjoy the excellent cuisine.

Vamizi Island

7 nightsVAMIZI ISLAND

Early the following morning, you’ll take a light aircraft flight straight to Vamizi Island which lies on a blissfully remote sand-spit just off Mozambique’s north-east coast. Like Beho Beho, Vamizi Island Lodge is one of the most sought-after and exclusive lodges in Africa, promising stunning white sand beaches, mesmerising diving and snorkelling, and some of the most luxurious villas in Mozambique. Wake up on your first day in your vast private villa: muslin canopies rippling in the breeze, and waves lapping on the shores, before doing absolutely nothing on the 8km stretch of deserted beach. Beyond this, we guarantee you’ll lose all track of time as you explore this tiny sliver of island, head out sport-fishing, and plunge into the incredible diving and snorkelling for which Vamizi is famed (depending on the time of year, you’ll have the chance to see humpback whales, turtles, and even whale-sharks). Spend your final evening at Vamizi Island sharing dinner with your toes in the sand, and watching dhows glide past with the day’s catch, before flying back to Dar Es Salaam where you’ll connect with your return flight home.
