Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Ubuntu Migration Camp is not static – it follows the movements of the wildebeest as they migrate through the Serengeti, and you’ll be able to see a variety of different animals depending on the location and time of year. Ubuntu sets up camp in three premium wildlife-spotting positions throughout the year, ensuring that it is perfectly positioned to catch the arrival of the wildebeest as they migrate northwards, and that the animals are never far away from the guests.

From May to July, the camp travels to the Western Corridor, a serene and peaceful area between the Nyakoroma Hills and the border of Serengeti National Park, perfect for watching the wildebeest at the Grumeti River.  From August to November, Ubuntu is located in the northern Serengeti, where you can observe the herds on their way to Kenya and the Masai Mara, as well as see crocodiles, hippos and hundreds of bird species. From December to March, the camp follows the herds as they head for the southern Serengeti’s endless grasslands, with mothers giving birth in February.

Rooms at Ubuntu Migration Camp

With eight spacious tented suites (including one family tent), featuring comfy beds and private bathrooms with hot-water safari bucket showers and flushing toilets, this camp offers you a traditional safari experience without stinting on luxuries.

Food & Drink

Tuck into delicious home-cooked meals, including a continental or English breakfast, light, buffet-styled lunches with a variety of salads, and a three-course dinner in the evening, which you can enjoy round the camp fire, under the stars, listening to the nocturnal animals. To extend your game-viewing time, take a breakfast picnic or lunch out on safari with you.

When Ubuntu heads north, fruits, salads and vegetables are sourced from its community upliftment programme in a nearby village.

Facilities

Spend a lazy afternoon reading a book from the library, and take in impressive views from the open-plan main area that spills into the wilderness.

Activities at Ubuntu Migration Camp

After breakfast, explore the finest areas of the Serengeti on a game drive in a specialised vehicle, watching the wildlife up close and enjoying the panoramic views over the endless landscape, before having lunch in the bush. For even better views, watch the wildlife teem below from a hot-air balloon (available at Ubuntu North).

Have once-in-a-lifetime encounters with the Big Five and big cats, or go on a birding safari. You should also take the opportunity to visit nearby local villages and experience the culture and traditions of the people.
