Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Hoanib Valley Camp is in the Hoanib River Valley, part of Namibia’s Kaokaoveld region, surrounded by rugged mountains and overlooking the Obias River.

Rooms at Hoanib Valley Camp

The six tented rooms have been designed and built to blend seamlessly in to the surrounding area. Given the fragile ecosystem in which the lodge is found, it has a very eco-friendly feel. Shaded decks with deep, comfortable chairs are the ideal spot to relax in the afternoons. Furniture has been designed and made by local Himba wood carvers so there is a very traditional feel to the rooms here.

Food & Drink

Have sundowner drinks in the bar before enjoying one of the delicious alfresco dinners for which the lodge is renowned.

The large main tent is a wonderful spot to relax in between activities.

Activities at Hoanib Valley Camp

Game drives allow guests to see the area’s varied wildlife including lions, leopards, elephants and hyenas, all of which can be found close to the lodge. Specialist trips to see desert rhinos can be arranged. The camp is being run in conjunction with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, so there is also the chance to get an in-depth insight in to the work that they are doing here.

The area is also home to permanent Himba and Herero settlements, so there is the opportunity to enjoy genuine cultural visits, rather than ones that can feel a little staged.
