Hotel Overview

sense of place

Perched on the edge of a 250 metre-high sand dune, the Dune Camp enjoys a stunning location with panoramic views over the Namib Desert. The surrounding NamibRand Nature Reserve is rich in wildlife and comprises beautiful landscapes of sand dunes, mountains and savannah.

rooms at Wolwedans Dune Camp

The Dune Camp has an intimate setting, sleeping just 12 guests across its 6 luxury safari tents. The tents are pitched on wooden platforms and feature large decks, which allow for sleeping under the stars if you so choose. The tents have an Old World, colonial feel, with beautiful dark wood furnishings, oil lamps, and leather armchairs.

food & drink

The lavish meals are prepared in an open-plan kitchen in the main tent, where you can chat to the chef as he cooks your dinner. As with the rest of the Wolwedans camp, great care is paid to presenting guests with food which is delicious while providing enough energy for a day’s adventures in the wilderness. A hearty spread of hot and cold breakfast options is served for breakfast, while a desert picnic lunch awaits you after your morning activity. Dinner is the real star, though, often stretching to four courses and featuring delicious, classic dishes based on produce from the camp’s own gardens.

facilities

The central main tent houses a lounge, dining area and a sundowner deck, a great place to get to know your fellow travellers and swap stories about your safari adventures. A range of massage therapies is on offer, and there’s also a swimming pool where you can cool off after your exertions. Children of school age are welcome at the Dune Camp, although it’s requested that parents supervise those under 12 at all times for their safety.

activities at Wolwedans Dune camp

A stay at Wolwedans is all about experiencing the unspoilt wilderness of the NamibRand, with a range of activities on offer to help you do just that. Walking safaris will see you follow in the footsteps of the San bushmen, with gemsbok, springbok, leopard and hyena among the animals who live in this area. If you’re feeling a little less energetic, a scenic drive is a fantastic and relaxing way to take in the environment, while an early-morning hot-air balloon ride over the desert, followed by a champagne breakfast, is an unforgettable experience.
