Where

Starting in Cusco or the Sacred Valley, the Hiram Bingham train travels through the Peruvian Andes to Machu Picchu.

Description of carriages on the Hiram Bingham

The Hiram Bingham’s distinctive blue and gold carriages, or ‘Palaces with Wheels’ as they were originally described, are home to two dining cars with 84 comfortable seats with plenty of space to stretch out. There’s also a kitchen car and a bar/observation car with an open-air deck at the back. Boarding the Hiram Bingham, expect polished wood and brass, and gleaming cutlery and crystal: this is a classic Orient Express experience.

Food and facilities

Seated in the comfort of the dining cars where each table is laid beautifully, guests enjoy a delicious brunch before arriving at Machu Picchu. Following the tour of the ancient ruins, afternoon tea is served at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge. On the return journey, relax with cocktails or a glass of premium South American wine before a four course dinner, prepared using the freshest regional and seasonal ingredients.

Activities on the Hiram Bingham

Along the route to Machu Picchu as the train winds through some of Peru’s most mesmerising scenery, guides pick out points of interest, before escorting guests on a professional tour or the ruins of Machu Picchu.
