Those looking to refresh mind, body and spirit in the Peruvian heartland.
3 hours transfer from the city of Arequipa, with a dramatic drive over the Andean mountains.
The lodges are rustically built with thatched roofs and earthy tones, sitting comfortably within the Andean landscape. There are 45 cosy rooms, all of which have inspiring views towards the valley. Bathrooms are small but complete, with hot water supplied from solar heaters. For families, there are 2 suites which can sleep up to 4 people. There is also a bridal suite which has the best views, and a luxurious private Jacuzzi fed from one of the thermal springs.
Guests are spoilt for choice, with three different restaurants within the Colca Lodge complex. The main restaurant fuses unique Andean flavours with alpine cooking techniques, whilst the Puya restaurant serves more delicate a la carte dishes, including local river trout and wholesome quinoa. For those who want to take full advantage of the stunning views, there is a rustic barbeque bar on the river-bank called ‘Las Pocitas,’ where a delicious array of meats, poultry, and fresh trout are cooked over sizzling charcoal.
Colca Lodge is the perfect base for exploring the captivating Colca region, with traditional agricultural settlements and ancient ruins just a short hike away. For adrenaline junkies, we can organise white-water rafting, trekking, horse-riding, and mountain biking, taking in a range of spectacular views and intriguing pre-colonial sites. When you return, you can top the day off with a blissful wallow in one of Colca Lodge’s thermal springs, as the majestic condor soars above.
If you’re up for a challenge, undertake an expedition to Mount Mismi, over 5,000 metres above sea level and the source of the legendary river Amazon.
