Those looking for charm and atmosphere in a great location.
In the heart of Salvador's historic centre, Pelourhino.
Villa Bahia has just 17 rooms, varying in size and shape as you’d expect from a historic building like this. All have their own private balconies. Vibrant colours are the hallmark of each one, and each is named individually after landmarks of the Portuguese kingdoms of old. Homespun patchwork quilts, four poster beds, old fashioned lamps and antique chairs give them all bags of atmosphere. Aircon and wireless internet add convenience and comfort to the mix.
As well as a swimming pool, the Villa Bahia has a reading room and a lovely roof terrace with views over the historic Pelourinho district. The high-ceilinged ground floor restaurant, with tall windows and whitewashed walls, is excellent for fish and seafood cooked local style.
Wandering the streets of Pelourinho is an activity in itself, with churches, museums, samba schools and capoeira classes just minutes away from the hotel.
Mercado Modelo is Salvador’s colourful, noisy market – if you want to buy something here, be prepared to haggle!
