Honeymooners who like being in the middle of the action, artists looking for inspiration, families or friends looking to combine culture and beach.
In the fishing village-come-fashionista hangout Trancoso on Brazil’s northeastern Bahia coast. Uxua Casa is located right in the centre of town - the perfect spot for trying out Trancoso’s great restaurants and bars.
Just nine one-, two- and three-bedroom houses set in lush gardens located right on Trancoso’s main square (the historic ‘Quadrado’), with the option of self catering or making use of the hotel’s services. Décor is super-stylish with lots of local touches including Brazilian vintage furniture and predominantly recycled materials, while king size beds with crisp, quality linen keep you in the lap of luxury.
With the option of self-catering or a full service kitchen, eating at Uxua Casa is flexible and, what’s more, a real treat. Most of the ‘casas’ come with a kitchen or kitchenette and grocery stores are just a stroll away. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the restaurant and are both fresh and delicious – although you’ll want to try one of the excellent Trancoso restaurants during your stay. The pool is a highlight, made entirely with aventurine crystals that reflect the sunlight during the day and glow softly at night. Down on the beach (a 10 minute stroll away), the lively beach bar is the place to sip cocktails and watch Trancoso at play.
Just being in Trancoso keeps you occupied enough, whether you’re hanging out on the beach, shopping in the surprisingly good boutiques on the main square, trying out the excellent restaurants or simply soaking up the wonderful atmosphere. There are tennis courts, a golf course, mountain biking and kayaking available in the local area, too.
For nature lovers and those that had always dreamt of having a tree house try Casa da Avore. This stunning room is built high in the trees, has it own swings below the house and a garden with your own private bath.
