Ecuador

Divided by the Andes into coast, highlands and jungle, Ecuador is a tiny country by South American stands, but still packs a punch. The Andean scenery here is stunning, the jungle lodges and hotels are some of the best in the continent, the wildlife colourful and the people are charming and wonderfully hospitable. Untouched Amazon rainforest, vibrant markets and wonderful colonial towns add still more to a luxury holiday or honeymoon in Ecuador. For the ultimate adventure, take a flight to the Galapagos for one of the most incredible wildlife experiences on the planet.

Back to Ecuador hotels

Quito

Handsome Andean capital with a wonderful setting. Check out the colonial old town for architectural gems and stay at luxury The Plaza Grande, a stunning boutique hotel in the heart of the city.

Otavalo

Just 90 minutes north of Quito you hit some spectacular scenery and the little village of Otavalo, home to a famous local market and great souvenir hunting. The area is also ideal for horse riding, and we recommend a stay on one of the restored haciendas for a taste of days gone by.

Cotopaxi

At 5897m above sea level, Cotopaxi is still only Ecuador’s second highest peak and yet one of the world’s highest active volcanoes. The brave can try to climb it, while for the rest of us it makes for a great day out in some spectacular high-altitude scenery.

Devil’s Nose Train to Cuenca

For a truly unique experience, jump on the Chiva Express and head south through the Avenue of the Volcanoes and along one of the world’s great switch-back railways. Most passengers prefer to ride on the roof to take in the panoramic views. Trust us, you’ll love it.

Amazon

Visit the Amazon Basin in Ecuador and experience some of our favourite jungle lodges, including the Napo Wildlife Centre, where you’ll meet local communities, some who part own and run the lodges, as well as some fabulous flora and fauna.

Galapagos

Why not end your luxury Ecuadorian adventure with a cruise around the Galapagos. This is THE wildlife experience in South America and a chance to come up close to some fearless weird and wonderful creatures. Take to the sea on board the Galapagos Odyssey or La Pinta, the Galapagos' latest arrival.
