Luxury Holidays in Colombia

Colombia is the rising star of the South American travel scene. With security concerns a thing of the past, Colombia is welcoming more and more visitors, but is still blissfully unspoiled and undeveloped. Music, dancing, food and drink are central to Colombian culture and Exsus can tailor-make your Colombia holiday so you get the very most out of your trip.

From the beaches of the Caribbean coast to the beautiful colonial city of Cartagena and the vibrant capital Bogota; the lush unspoiled beauty of the Tayrona National Park to the misty hills of the Coffee Triangle, luxury travel in Colombia is a very exciting option.

Cartagena thumb

Cartagena, Caribbean Coast and Islands

Overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea, Cartagena is a stunning, preserved walled port city filled with magnificent colonial architecture, brightly coloured buildings, cobblestone streets, a buzzing nightlife scene and many friendly boutique luxury hotels. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, Cartagena is in our opinion one of South America’s most attractive cities. Colombia’s Caribbean coastline also offers some lovely island beach escapes and great diving and snorkelling on Baru, San Andres and Providencia Islands. Short on time? Take a day trip from Cartagena and visit the pretty Rosario islands by speedboat.

Bogota thumb

Bogota

Bogota, Colombia’s capital, is fast taking its place as one of Latin America’s most vibrant and culturally interesting cities. Surrounded by Andean peaks, Bogota offers great heritage, music, food and drink – plus a captivating old town quarter, La Candelaria, which has quaint cobbled streets and colonial and baroque-style architecture – and some great hotels. There are plenty of sights to see in and around Bogota; in particular the extraordinary Gold Museum, which showcases the largest selection of pre-Hispanic gold in the world and the eye-opening Zipaquira Cathedral, a cathedral carved from a former salt mine some 200 metres underground.

Tayrona thumb

Tayrona National Park

In the north of the country, beautiful Tayrona National Park combines lush forests, towering mountains and unspoiled deserted beaches with a fascinating indigenous culture. There’s also a huge variety of fauna and flora, with wildlife including monkeys, jaguars, iguanas and several hundred species of bird. The only quality accommodation in Tayrona is rustic yet stylish Ecohabs near Santa Marta, which has just 14 thatched cabins dotted along a forested hill, each with uninterrupted views over the ocean – the perfect place to stay for a Robinson Crusoe adventure, Colombian style.
