Ten minutes by taxi from Casa Higueras is Pablo Neruda’s house, La Sebastiana, and guests can also explore more of the Pacific coastline including his other museum/house at Isla Negra. Despite views and fine restaurants the capital Santiago can underwhelm so try Valparaíso as a more bohemian base. It’s worth taking a guided tour to get under the skin of this fascinating city and learn about its rich, intriguing history.
