Nicaragua

A luxury holiday or adventure tour in undiscovered Nicaragua offers stunning landscapes, outdoor activities and cultural treasures, making it the perfect compliment to Costa Rica’s charms. Volcanoes emerging from lakes, mountains, rainforest, coral reefs, mangroves – and no less than 78 national parks, bursting with flora and wildlife not seen outside of Central America – plus fascinating history, culture and countless activities including deep sea fishing, scuba diving and horse back tours, make Nicaragua a really exciting, up and coming travel destination. Oh and its still pretty cheap with very few tourists. Watch this space.

With Nicaragua still unscathed as a destination from mass tourism, this is a Central American country with plenty to offer. With a similar climate and geographical make-up to Costa Rica, but significantly cheaper to visit, there’s never been a better time to explore Nicaragua.

Lake Nicaragua and Granada

With an area of over 8000 square kilometres, fresh water Lake Nicaragua is Central America’s largest lake. Stay at Jicaro Island Ecolodge, with its breathtaking location overlooking Mombacho Volcano on Lake Nicaragua itself - a short boat journey from Granada, one of Nicaragua’s most visited cities with its cobbled streets and beautiful colonial architecture.

Ometepe Island

Formed by two volcanoes rising from Lake Nicaragua, Ometepe Island is a nature-lovers paradise, where white-faced Capuchin monkeys and Howler monkeys roam free around the rainforest.

San Juan del Sur

A charming, sleepy fishing village set in a crescent shaped bay on the Pacific coast, San Juan del Sur is popular amongst locals; there are also some of Central America’s best beaches within easy reach.

Corn Islands

Some 70 kilometres off the coast of Nicaragua in the Caribbean Sea, the Corn Islands offer some of the best snorkelling and diving in the area.
