Honeymooners, couples or families – the extensive grounds and three beautiful beaches mean there’s room for everybody. Golf lovers need look no further.
On the island of Praslin, the second largest in the Seychelles, just 15 minutes by propeller plane from Mahe.
Subtle, tasteful rooms blend natural wood, stone and thatch with modern technology in all the right places. All rooms have Internet in the room on the television and a Mini Mac for your I-pod. Of the 105 rooms, 88 are Junior Suites (some of which interconnect) and eight are Senior Suites with double terraces and a separate living room. The eight Pool Villas are a real treat for families with two bedrooms, living space, a private pool and easy beach access, while the three-bedroom Presidential Villa will keep the pickiest Exsus explorers happy.
Three great places to eat: Legend Restaurant, which serves buffet breakfast and dinner as well as snacks at lunch to wonderful ocean vistas, the Seahorse Restaurant for a la carte dining overlooking the golf course and the wonderful Beach Bar and Grill, perched on the rocks between two beaches with spectacular views. Once you’ve overindulged in the restaurants, there’s a fitness centre and Shiseido Spa with a full range of treatments available as well as complimentary yoga classes. The two tennis courts are available free of charge to guests while the golf course is kept in tip top condition with magnificent, dramatic views.
There’s plenty to do at the resort from deep sea fishing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking and scuba diving to mountain biking, yoga and of course plenty of golf. Outside of the resort, it’s worth going to Vallee de Mai, a protected area home to many of the Seychelles endemic species of flora and fauna or hop on a boat over to sleepy La Digue island, where the ox cart rules over the car.
Don’t expect sea views from your room at Lemuria (although you may hear the waves crashing outside) – the rooms are kept separate from the ocean by natural foliage, which keeps the beaches wild and wonderful.
