Lush, fertile and rugged, with almost 20,000 acres of tropical jungle, coconut and banana plantations, St Lucia has some great hiking trails to tackle – and with a steady warm breeze year round, some excellent sailing and watersports.
St Lucia’s busy capital city is arguably one of the most beautifully positioned in the Caribbean, with a large deep harbour surrounded by undulating hills.
About 8 miles south of Castries, you’ll find one of the most stunning bays in the Caribbean. Used in the movie Dr Doolittle, it is well worth a visit, by land or by yacht.
This deep water harbour sits at the base of the Gros and Petit Pitons. For great views of the Pitons from your very own suite, stay at our favourite Jade Mountain. For the ultimate Piton view, why not take a helicopter ride over the island. Heights not for you? A boat trip is a great down-to-earth alternative. Not too far away, check out the nearby Soufriere volcano, from which the town derives its name, the world’s only ‘drive-in’ volcanic crater.
