With some 21 dazzling white beaches, but far fewer people to crowd them, St Barths is a great option for simple Caribbean pleasures, soaking up the rays and taking in the lush mountainous scenery. The most well known is St Jean Beach – and this is where you’ll find the famous luxury hotel, Eden Rock.

Nestled in a very private peninsula in the north east side of the island at the end of Grand Cul de Sac Bay and overlooking Marigot Bay is the lovely Guanahani Hotel and Spa. Just 3 km from the airport, it’s great for families.

Look out for some great duty free bargains in St Barths: many French perfumes are cheaper here than anywhere else in the Caribbean.
