Beautifully simple luxury in a restored Colonial property.
Tent Bay, on the rugged East coast of Barbados.
You’d struggle to find more spacious rooms on the West Coast, making those at The Atlantis Hotel incredibly good value. The fact that there are just 8 rooms in the main building, and 2 two bedroom apartments by the pool, maintains the homely, intimate feel of the hotel. Wake up to the sound of crashing waves as the refreshing Atlantic breeze wafts through the voile canopy on your crisp white bed. This is simple luxury at its best.
The Atlantis Hotel is famed amongst locals for its bountiful Sunday brunch, not least for the dramatic ocean views from the canopied deck area. Though simple, the food is excitingly exotic, and always incorporates fresh local produce. Imaginative Creole vegetable dishes, Flying Fish straight from the sea, and no-nonsense yam gratin will keep you coming back for more, night after night.
Take the winding road down to the water’s edge from Atlantis Hotel, and go for spectacular walks along the boulder strewn beaches. Whether you want to watch the champion surfers, photograph the incredible lava rock formations, or just relax in the shade, the beaches surrounding Atlantis Hotel are wonderfully un-spoilt, with more locals to be found than tourists. Nature-lovers will also love the nearby Orchid garden: a jewel in the middle of the sugar cane fields.
The dramatic beaches around The Atlantis Hotel are ideal for experienced surfers, but the strong currents and giant waves aren’t great for swimmers. Instead you can have a dip in the natural rock pools and take a Rum Punch in with you like the locals!
