Antigua

As a coral-based island, Antigua’s beaches are the purest white you can get – and with 365 to choose from, one for every day of the year, it doesn’t get much better than this. Throw in some fantastic heritage centred around numerous forts and the restored British colonial naval station of ‘Nelsons Dockyard’, so called after Horatio Nelson, mix in direct flights, some great restaurants and some of the best luxury hotels in the Caribbean and you’ll understand why Antigua has never lost its touch.

St Johns and Dickenson Bay

Dickenson Bay is one of the key areas for hotels in Antigua, just north of the capital of St Johns. If shopping’s your thing, you’ll find plenty of options at St John’s Heritage and Redcliffe Quays.

West coast

The west coast of Antigua is dotted with lovely beaches, lapped by the clearest of seas, waiting to be discovered. Head for Hermitage Bay for luxury all-inclusive at its best.

English Harbour and the South coast

As one of the most naturally land-locked harbours in the world, it is hardly surprising Nelson chose it as his base in the 18th century during the Napoleonic wars. Wander around the dockyard and soak up the history. Today, English Harbour leads the field as the centre for yachting and sailing in the Caribbean; Antigua Sailing Week is one of the top five regattas in the world. The Inn at English Harbour is perfectly positioned for exploring this part of the island.

Indian Town

Head to this, one of Antigua’s national parks on the North East coast and check out Devil’s Bridge, a 30 foot natural arch carved by the pounding waves of the Atlantic.

Barbuda

Just beyond Antigua, is the beautiful untouched isle of Barbuda. Hop over on a ferry or take a plane and see this unspoiled Caribbean jewel for yourself.
