Anguilla

East of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and north of St Martin, Anguilla is one of the most northerly of the Leeward islands and is smaller than some of its Caribbean counterparts. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in excellent restaurants, luxury hotels and pure white, talcum powder sand: the best beaches in the Caribbean? Probably. Now attracting a salubrious crowd, Anguilla is small and exclusive, but still manages to retain much of its sleepy backwater charm.

Back to Anguilla hotels

With so many fabulous pristine beaches (33 in all) to choose from, and some of the most translucent turquoise waters in the Caribbean, Anguilla is a great pick for diving and snorkelling along the colourful reefs framing the island.

Sailing over to one of the nearby deserted islands such as Prickly Pear Cay or Scrub Island is another great way to while away lazy hours. Golf lovers can head for the Greg Norman-designed 18 hole championship course at Temenos.

Great local and international food is also prevalent in the restaurants across the island. The hotel restaurants are equally excellent. We love the new Viceroy Anguilla property: think effortless luxury and a magnificent, sea-view wellness spa.
