Families, or a luxury start or finish to a safari in the South Luangwa.
The gateway to Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park.
Eighteen African chic chalets with en-suite bathrooms and private verandahs overlooking the bush. With three family rooms, Mfuwe Lodge is a great bet for those with young wildlife lovers.
Mfuwe provides a delightful contrast to the rustic isolation of the bush camps. There is a pool (utter bliss between game drives, particularly during September and October), and for some serious pampering, a spa. Most of our visitors arrive at Mfuwe Lodge either after a long flight, or after several days in the bush, so a massage is warmly welcomed!
As we almost always use this in combination with some of the more remote walking camps, we’d suggest trying something different here. Game in the area is prolific, so day and evening game drives are a particular highlight. Visits to the local community in nearby Mfuwe village are highly recommended - particularly the chance to see the local school - we’d challenge anyone not to be charmed within a few moments of arriving!
Visit in November, for the chance to see elephants migrating through reception to reach the juicy fruits of a nearby wild mango tree.
