Chimps and beautiful views.
Ideally located for chimpanzee tracking, on the edge of Kyambura Gorge and Queen Elizabeth National Park.
There are four wood and thatch chalets perched up on the hillside, with spectacular views out towards the gorge and the surrounding grassland. The feel is pretty, airy and modern, making a real break with the colonial style lodges and tented camps found elsewhere in Africa.
The main lodge was once a coffee store. Its redesign has incorporated a dining area and a verandah with beautiful views out towards Kyambura Gorge. Food is good, and there’s a swimming pool looking out over the gorge.
This is paradise for wildlife-lovers. Activities here are incredibly diverse. Guests can track chimps, go for game drives on the plains of the National Park (looking out in particular for lion, ellies and hippos) and take boat trips on the Kazinga channel. Even if birds bore you to tears we’d urge you to give this a try. The myriad of brightly coloured flitting, diving, swooping creatures might just change your mind. There are also some brilliant walks through the surrounding countryside to see some of the projects that the lodge supports in the local community.
For the ultimate souvenir of your stay, buy some local coffee- it helps support the community projects, and tastes delicious too.
