Getting away from the hustle and bustle of busy life.
Set on a deserted stretch of pristine white sand beach, flanked by a freshwater lagoon and coastal forest, south of Dar es Salaam.
There are nine simple reed and thatch cottages at Ras Kutani, each with huge beds draped in white mosquito nets and large verandas with Swahili day beds and hammocks. The four large suites are set high on the hill and feature private plunge pools with sweeping views. The family unit has two bedrooms and panoramic vistas.
Made with reclaimed dhow wood and reed flooring, the open-sided guest area has a casual beach ambiance. Savour freshly prepared seafood and succulent Pan-African cuisine at meal times or sink into the comfy sofas with colourful cushions. A short walk though the gardens takes you to a pretty swimming pool overlooking the lagoon.
Explore the surroundings on foot through the indigenous forest or on horseback along the endless beach. Try boogie boarding, take out a kayak on the lagoon or unwind with a soothing massage to the sounds of the waves.
Turtles come to nest along the shore in season and guests have the opportunity to take part in turtle welfare projects.
