A night or two to start or end your Tanzanian safari.
Tucked amongst the mansions and embassies of the upmarket suburb of Oyster Bay.
Eight beautiful suites looking out over the great sweep of Oyster Bay. With vast rain showers, deep bathtubs, and the blissful cool of air-conditioning, this is the perfect respite from the adventurous rough and tumble of safari.
There’s a small pool for guests who want a respite from the tropical humidity, but the food is the highlight here. Meals are eaten with hosts and fellow guests who are invariably fascinating, and often global movers and shakers. Food is delicious. When a hotel’s “standby supper” is effortlessly produced lobster, delicious enough to satisfy one of London ’s toughest restaurant critics (a dinner companion on our last visit), you know you’re on to something special.
This is an overnight stop destination, so guests are rarely likely to do much more than whizz out for a few last minute souvenirs. The Slipway shopping centre isn’t too far away, and if you want to test your bargaining skills, a visit to Mwenge woodcarvers is an eye-opening experience.
Build in a night to stay here before heading off on safari, beginning your adventure refreshed and ready for action.
