Adults of any age (there’s not a huge amount of outdoor space though, so it’s probably not ideal for energetic young children).
Central Franschhoek, South Africa’s gourmet capital.
There are six pretty, and tastefully decorated rooms, all in a fresh country style. Four of the rooms are superior rooms, opening out onto a patio, while the two larger pool suites share a swimming pool beside the rooms.
All of our guests stay here on a bed and breakfast basis- with so many wonderful restaurants on your doorstep, it’d seem crazy to do anything else! We’ll give you a list of suggestions, which include a few of our own favourites, but to be honest, it’s difficult to pick a bad one in Franschhoek. And if you really can’t face going out, the Last Word team can arrange something for you. One especially nice touch is that drinks are included in your stay, so if you fancy an aperitif, or a glass of wine snuggled beside the log burner in the lounge, it’s definitely an option. There’s also a small terrace and pool for an afternoon snoozing in the sunshine.
Staying in South Africa’s gourmet capital, in the heart of the Winelands, the principal activities are fairly apparent. However, aside from wine-tasting at the 27 estates in the area and enjoying some excellent food, there’s great hiking and cycling to be had around Franschhoek, and several championship golf courses. And your gourmet experience isn’t limited to restaurants- there’s chocolate and cheese tasting too!
If you’re going to be arriving late here, just let your specialist know so that we can pre-book dinner for you, saving you from heading out and about on your first night, and from too much decision-making after the drive!
