Regions

Barcelona Thumb

Barcelona

The capital of Catalonia, with its own language, character and story, Barcelona is Spain’s unique and somewhat eccentric tearaway, where lively, contemporary culture thrives in a 2,000 year old city. Barcelona has been given its unique identity by the Modernist architect, Gaudí. His masterpiece, the iconic Sagrada Família Roman Catholic Church, looms proudly over the city, looking down on the hustle and bustle below. Take some time out on Barcelona’s Mediterranean waterfront, Las Ramblas, enjoy a sangria or two in one of its restaurants or wander the winding streets its medieval centre, dotted with outdoor markets, hidden squares, fountains and palaces.

Andalucia

Andalucía is the home of Flamenco, a development of Andalucian and Romani music and dance that has a history going back 3,000 years. The region itself, in Southern Spain, is characterised by extraordinary diversity. In Seville and Granada, white-washed, cobble-street villages stand side by side with grand Moorish architecture. Those with a taste for adventure can try their hand at paragliding, canyoning, hiking, rock climbing or horse riding in the vast Sierra Nevada, while the blissful beaches will be irresistible for those simply looking for somewhere to relax.

Mallorca Thumb

Mallorca

Most visitors to the island of Mallorca’s rave about its picturesque coves, where golden sands meet transparent waters, and we‘d certainly recommend getting a table at one of the lovely little restaurants overlooking the beach and let the hours tick by, Sangria in hand. While we’re at it, many local bodegas offer tours and tastings and are a must for Oenophiles. Walk the ruggedly beautiful hillsides of the Serra de Tramuntana, where the reward is absolutely spectacular views over the island, or charter a yacht and explore the island from the sea.

Ibiza Thumb

Ibiza

Tranquil, relaxed, rural...  there’s much more to Ibiza than the party-goers will have you believe. Away from the crowds, there are plenty of hidden beaches, and you don’t have to go far to find them. Inland, much of Ibiza is covered by thick pine forest, and olives, figs and almonds are all cultivated in the rich and fertile landscape. While in Ibiza, be sure to take a day trip to the blissful white beaches of Formentera, Spain’s answer to the Caribbean, before dinner in Ibiza Town overlooking the super-yachts in the picturesque marina.

Madrid Thumb

Madrid

Spain’s capital is at its most lively after dark. Flamenco, opera and all things in between provide the soundtrack to music-loving Madrid, so sit back, order some tapas and settle in to the rhythm of the night. The city’s charming squares are full of locals of all ages socialising all night long, so do as the locals do and enjoy some people-watching. During the day, explore the fantastic boutiques, pop into the museums and wander the picturesque Retiro Park. Madrid’s quaint bars are welcoming little hideaways to take a little time out in the sunshine.

San Sabastian Thumb

San Sebastian

The cosy city of San Sebastián is tucked away on the coast of the Bay of Biscay in the Basque region of Spain. The city has no fewer than six Michelin starred restaurants, so if fantastic cuisine is a ‘must’ on your itinerary then San Sebastian is the place to head. Explore the city’s many treasures, which have seen it named the European Capital of Culture for 2016 and enjoy what are widely regarded as among the finest city beaches in Europe while surrounded by ancient architecture. For great views of the city, head up to the statue of Christ, which stands majestically on a hilltop between the beaches.

Tenerife Thumb

Tenerife

A luxury holiday in Tenerife offers dramatic landscapes, pretty fishing villages and plenty of opportunities for a little adventure. The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is dotted with lush forests, deserts and, of course, the spectacular beaches for which it’s best known. The volcanic island is home to the highest mountain in Spain, El Teide, and the ascent to its peak is rewarded with a spectacular panorama. There’s more than enough to satisfy the wind surfers, scuba divers and surfers too, while those looking to be at one with nature can feed the sting rays at Las Galletas.
