Itinerary details

Chable Yucatan, Mexico

3 nightsYUCATAN

Your wellness escape begins deep in the Yucatan jungle, at a place which brings together Mayan tradition and modern luxury. Chable Yucatan is a collection of beautiful villas surrounded by Mayan ruins and cenote sinkholes, with a truly world-class spa. A huge range of wellness activities are on offer here, from reiki and tai chi to guided meditation and breathing practice. In the restaurants, healthy, traditional dishes are served using produce from the Mayan garden, which is tended by a Maya horticulturist who has revived Mayan harvesting techniques not used in over a century.

While you couldn’t be blamed for never tearing yourself away from the hotel, don’t miss the ruins nearby. Day trips can be arranged to the unmissable Chichen Itza, the most famous symbol of the Mayan civilisation, while Uxmal and the temples of the Puuc Route are also easily visited.

Tulum, Riviera Maya, Mexico

4 nightsRIVIERA MAYA

Your wellness escape ends with some beachfront relaxation, as you head from the jungle to the Caribbean coast. Viceroy Riviera Maya is a beautiful collection of casitas facing the ocean, set along seven miles of private, unspoilt coastline. You may fancy doing little more than lounging on the beach, occasionally hitting the waves for some snorkelling, diving, fishing or kitesurfing; on dry land, golf, horse riding and tours into the jungle are on offer.

As with your first hotel, the Viceroy has a fantastic spa which draws on Mayan traditions to offer unique wellness treatments; here, you’ll find a traditional Mayan Temazcal sweat lodge, and a range of herbal and mud-based therapies, alongside more modern offerings.

A range of excursions can be arranged to nearby Mayan ruins, including Xcaret, Xel-Ha, and the recommended Tulum, which is particularly atmospheric, given its position overlooking the ocean.
