Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Set amid 12 acres of trees, meadows and gardens, Savista’s eco-friendly philosophy is rooted in its environment. Water is harvested, biomass fertiliser is used, solar energy heats the water, and the swimming pool is filled with water drawn from deep bore wells and recycled.

Rooms at Savista Retreat

Rooms at Savista are bright, spacious and reflect the rich cultural traditions of Rajasthan in their unique designs. The all-white Jasmine room features a dark wood four-poster bed and traditional Rajasthani furniture, while Mayura is decorated in hues of blue and green in honour of the peacock, India’s national bird. The Lapis Lazuli suite features a glass-fronted sitting room, from which you can enjoy beautiful views over the gardens, groves and cropland that surround the hotel. Gulmohar features its own private sun terrace.

Food and drink

Savista’s ethos is very much ‘farm-to-fork’: vegetables and grains are grown on-site free of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, and milk comes from buffalo fed on the estate’s grass. At Hibiscus Court, the hotel’s restaurant, the rich north Indian cuisine of Rajasthan is fused with the complex flavours of the south in a pre-set, five course tasting menu. The restaurant is set in an ancient grove, surrounded by fragrant plants, with most meals throughout the year served outside, with dinner candle-lit and warmed by fire pits if necessary.

Four-day wellness workshops are on offer at Savista, with an emphasis on slow living, healthy eating and the use of medicinal plants and herbs. Vegetarian cuisine is combined with a range of yogic exercises focusing on breathing and posture, with daily traditional Indian massages. The hotel is also home to a gym, a pool, and a well-stocked library, including volumes on wellness and nutrition.

Activities at Savista Retreat

Savista is ideally located for exploring the rugged beauty of rural Rajasthan. River bed and ravine hikes along the dry Sujalam riverbed will take you through woodlands populated by nilgai antelope and a rich variety of bird life. The nearby villages of Sanjharia, Jaisinghpura and Himmatpura are great places to meet people in local farming communities and experience Rajasthani life as it has existed for centuries. Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital nicknamed the Pink City for its red sandstone and painted boulevards, lies around 30 minutes’ drive away. Sights include the beautiful Jal Mahal, an 18th-century Mughal palace which floats atop the Man Sagar Lake and was restored to its original beauty in 2011; and the Birla Mandir, a grand Hindu temple.
