Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Denis Island is perched at the edge of the Seychelles plateau, 60 miles north-east of the capital Mahe.

Rooms at Denis Island

The island's 25 cottages all have a private courtyard or a beachfront area with a sea-facing veranda. They have their own courtyard garden (including an open-air bathroom), while some are a little larger, with a veranda and a private area down on the beach. Most are set just a few metres from the beach. The spa cottages are larger still and have their own wellness pavilions, while there's one villa designed for families and another as a gorgeous private retreat.

The air-conditioned interiors feature natural materials, and have an inside-outside feel, with no televisions to disturb the secluded island peace - this is an escape from the world, so be prepared to switch off and relax in this magical setting.

Food & Drink

For breakfast and lunch, the hotel offers creative and extensive buffets with live cooking stations using ingredients fresh from the island's estate and fished from the surrounding seas. In the evenings, there are Creole specialities, barbecues on the beach, or sushi and sashimi prepared from the day's catch. For something more formal, you can opt for an elegantly- presented five-course table dinner in the dining room or around the pool deck.

Facilities

Have a swim or play tennis, or head to the Library for a game of snooker or a chess challenge.

Activities at Denis Island

Denis Island is very proud of its conservation record and eager to show guests the island's unique habitat. Resident experts can provide a bird feeding or nature tour, or give a presentation on the island's history, wildlife or conservation projects.

An atmospheric stroll will bring you to the old village with its craft workshops, farm and the giant tortoise colony. Equally, a jog around the island, a canoeing trip or a sunset sortie into the lagoon is yours for the asking - or venture further afield to neighbouring islands. At certain times of year, you may be lucky enough to see hawksbill turtles laying their eggs on the beach.
