Terrace Houses

Location: Sirince and Ephesus | Turkey

Price guide: £££££ £100-£200 per person per night

The family-owned Terrace Houses make for a delightful rural retreat up on the hills of ?irince, affording fantastic panoramas of the lush surroundings. The hotel’s renovation from a decrepit stable and deserted shepherd’s abode took six years and the result is a homely, rustic bolt-hole with plenty of privacy and a charming atmosphere.
Perfect forFamilies, large groups and those seeking a home away from home.
In the knowIf you’re impressed with the food, opt for a cookery class with Aysel, the hotel’s local chef.

Hotel Overview

Where

Atop the hills of ?irince, 1 hour from Izmir airport and 10 km from Ephesus.

Rooms at Terrace Houses

The four cottages are Fig House, Olive House, Grapevine House and the newest addition, Clockmaker’s Cottage, each accommodating up to six or eight people. Some have private terraces, balconies or gardens, and all are enclosed by green, leafy foliage. Exposed stone walls and dark wood furnishings, often intricately carved, lend a rustic touch, and rooms are brightened with lovely Turkish antiques, rugs and fragrant sprigs of lavender. Each cottage has marble bathrooms and equipped kitchens.

Food and facilities

At the Terrace Cafe, a local chef whips up sublime Turkish dishes with locally-sourced produce, such as baked aubergines, stuffed courgette flowers and crispy oven-baked borek.  Enjoy a homemade breakfast, light lunches and candlelit dinners on the terrace with views across ?irince.

Activities at Terrace Houses

Set off to Ephesus where 10,000 years of history awaits you. Ancient Greek civilisation thrived here, and the buildings that still stand here are astounding. Shop for hand-made Turkish rugs, linens and jewellery at ?irince’s shops and stalls, and wander through the pretty village streets.
