Itinerary details

Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Iceland

1 nightSOUTH COAST

On arrival at Reykjavik airport, you'll be whisked to the Blue Lagoon for the ultimate post-flight pampering. Experience its thermal waters and natural mud face masks, flanked by snow-capped peaks.

Afterwards, you'll head to the south coast and the spectacular Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which tumbles at a height of over 60 metres and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. If conditions are favourable, you'll be able to walk behind the waterfall for a unique view of the cascading waters.

Bed down for your first night at Skalakot Manor, in the heart of the countryside. This evening, if weather conditions are suitable, you'll venture out with an expert guide on a hunt for the ethereal Northern Lights - an unforgettable sight.

Snowmobiling, Iceland

1 nightVatnajokull National Park

Start your first morning in epic style with a snowmobiling adventure on Eyjafjallajokull Volcano - the one that hit the headlines for worldwide air traffic disruption after it erupted in 2010 - a thrilling way to experience the slopes.

You'll then venture east to Skogafoss, one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, which carries water from two powerful glaciers, Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull. Like Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss also has a drop of 60 metres, but a width of 25m. On sunny days, you may even see a double rainbow through the spray - a perfect photo opportunity - and for a bird's eye view of the falls and uninterrupted views of the coast, take the climb up the stairs that cling to the waterfall’s edge.

Continuing east along the south coast, your next stop is the distinctive volcanic black sands of Reynisfjara, whose dramatic landscapes also feature basalt rock columns, caves and sea stacks.

Spend the night at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon, which offers stylish rooms with panoramic views over the wilderness and gourmet Icelandic cuisine.

Reykjavik, Iceland

1 nightReykjavik

After breakfast, you'll get kitted out before making your way into a naturally-formed ice cave in the Vatnajokull glacier. These ice caves are created by a glacial river that runs through the ice, creating a network of tunnels, with different views everywhere you look. On the coldest winter days, the river freezes, making the caves accessible. On days when the ice caves are not accessible and an expedition into the caves is not possible, you can enjoy a scenic walk on the glacier.

Your next stop is Jokulsarlon, a dramatic glacier lagoon with pristine icebergs floating on the deep blue waters. The main lagoon is vast, measuring approximately 7 square miles. Formerly covered in thick glacier ice, in the 1930s the glacier started to retreat, and these days more than 330 feet of ice breaks away each year to endlessly reshape the lagoon and fill it with huge, spectacular icebergs. Keep your eyes peeled for the seals that bob out of the water and bask on the floating ice.

This afternoon, you will travel back to Reykjavik, and stay at the Sandhotel. This boutique hotel has a convenient location right in the centre of the city, near shops, restaurants and vibrant bars, enabling you to make the most of your final night in Iceland.

Enjoy a final morning at leisure in the capital before being taken to the airport for your departing flight.
