Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Emerson Spice is a boutique hotel in the Zanzibar capital of Stone Town. The hotel faces the main square of Tharia Street and offers views of the Anglican Cathedral. The location ensures easy accessibility to all the local sites including the nearby Palace Museum.

Rooms at Emerson Spice

This charming hotel consists of 11 rooms including a family room. Each room has its own bright colour scheme, offset with Zanzibari furniture and intricate wooden doors. The rooms are all unique with their own Swahili twists, such as the Violetta - decorated in shades of violet and blue and boasting stained-glass panels. Air conditioning and mosquito nets help to ensure a comfortable stay at the homely hotel.

Food & Drink

In-keeping with the Zanzibari theme of the hotel, the rooftop Tea House serves a five-course ‘taste safari’ dinner that begins with cocktails at sunset from 6pm onwards.  The Secret Garden is also a popular spot for lunch, a restored former market place hidden among ruins providing a rustic air to the restaurant. The Dhow Countries Music Academy frequently perform in the gallery above, creating a charming atmosphere for diners to enjoy.

Facilities

The hotel’s courtyard houses a beautiful fountain by which guests can lounge in the swinging seat or hammock and enjoy the tranquillity of this urban oasis.

Activities at Emerson Spice

The hotel can assist in organising a range of activities including walking tours, cookery courses, island excursions, diving and dhow trips. Furthermore, the hotel sits on a small square midway down Tharia Street, the main shopping thoroughfare in Stone Town, making it a prime location for many other activities in the vicinity including a spot of retail therapy.
