Spirit yourself away here to escape the modern world; get to know the locals, and relax on the unfeasibly beautiful beaches.

Rooms at Guludo Beach Lodge

The 10 individual hideaways at Guludo Beach Lodge are rustic but charming, with ingenious eco-initiatives, and no electricity. Most people stay in one of the traditional adobe bandas, which have a cool and spacious feel, wide verandas for lolling in your hammock, and huge open-air bathrooms (hot-water is delivered for showers in the morning and evening). There’s also the beautiful Zala Suite, and – so you can feel even further removed from the modern world – a breezy tented banda.

Food and facilities

You can expect delicious home-cooked grub aplenty at Geludo: enjoyed in a banda that’s built over the sea, and with atmospheric storm lanterns all around you. The lovely staff will treat you to afternoon tea, local dishes, and of course plenty of fresh seafood, plus daily snacks and cocktails that get everyone chatting together.

Activities at Guludo Beach Lodge

You’ll feel so welcomed at Guludo Beach Lodge, and rather than contrived cultural visits you’ll get to know the locals naturally by playing football with the children on the beach, taking an archery lesson with a former poacher, or enjoying a few beers at a Geludo "disco"! After this, you can enjoy some of the best diving and snorkelling over the world; take a boat-trip to historic Ibo Island, and at certain times of the year go whale-watching.
