The British weather is - finally - bordering on summery (if you discount the clouds), meaning the much-anticipated tipple o'clock sends us in our droves to rooftop and riverside bars, so we got to thinking about our favourite alfresco bars around the world to sip on a cocktail and take in the view.
1. Gansevoort Park Avenue

Come sunset in NoMad, New York, and all the movers and shakers make for Gansevoort Park Avenue's happening rooftop bar, twenty stories above Manhattan. Centered around the pool where a racy vintage pin-up beckons, all eyes are on the glittering Empire State building. In chilly weather, there are indoor and outdoor fireplaces to warm your cockles at while summer sees a flurry of parties, with a soundtrack provided by the city's best DJs.
2. The River Bar at The Peninsula, Bangkok

There's no better place to take a breather from the hectic pace of Bangkok than The River Bar, with the cool breeze from the Chao Phraya river on your face and a concoction of your choice in hand. Part of the luxurious Peninsula Hotel, excellent views pretty much come as standard throughout the hotel where their amazing suites look out over the sparkling city skyline.
3. Grace, Santorini

Holding a very special place in our daydreams is the crisp white and vibrant turquoise blue of Santorini, Greece, and this is one place to see it in all of its glory - with a poolside refreshment at Grace Santorini. Here the resident mixologist will happily shake you up something special as you watch the sun paint the sky pink and look forward to doing little else tomorrow than soaking up the Grecian sun and fabulous scenery.
