Itinerary details

Buenos Aires

3 nightsBUENOS AIRES

Your family adventure begins in Buenos Aires, a city of tango, asado, and grand colonial architecture. You’ll spend the first three nights of your trip at the Park Hyatt, an elegant neoclassical hotel in the upper class Recoleta district. Whatever your family’s age and preferences, you’ll find plenty of things to do in the Argentine capital. Football fans will love the chance to attend a game at the iconic La Bombonera, home to Boca Juniors, while the Reserva Ecologica is a great place to spend an afternoon, with nature walks giving you the chance to spot turtles, iguanas, coypu, and hundreds of bird species.

Cordoba

4 nightsCORDOBA

A quick 90-minute flight from Buenos Aires takes you to the Spanish colonial city of Cordoba. You’ll spend four nights in the countryside outside the city at El Colibri, possibly the most family-friendly estancia anywhere in Argentina. As ever, horse riding is high on the agenda here, but there’s a range of other activities on offer too, from bird watching to polo, and trekking and mountain biking in the unspoilt countryside. Kids will relish the opportunity to experience authentic farm life, helping out with activities such as sheep shearing, egg gathering and milking the cows.

Lakes

3 nightsLAKES

The next leg of your journey sees you venturing into the beautiful region of Patagonia, where you’ll spend three nights in a fantastic location between the Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes. You’ll stay at the Llao Llao, a luxury lodge-style hotel perched on a hill between the lakes and offering fantastic views – staying in the Moreno wing, you’ll enjoy beautiful views over Lake Moreno from your window. Llao Llao, again, is fantastic for outdoor activities, with archery, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing joining classic Patagonian activities like hiking and horse riding.

The Pampas

2 nightsPAMPAS

The final leg of your family adventure takes you to the Pampas lowlands, a region of unspoilt plains close to Buenos Aires. You’ll spend two nights at Estancia La Sofia, a ranch hotel and polo club where you’ll experience the life of a gaucho cowboy. Horse-based activities obviously take centre stage here: you can learn to play polo with lessons at the club, or enjoy a guided ride out into the Pampas, where the open plains make for great wildlife watching opportunities – fox, deer and coypu are among the inhabitants. A fantastic family activity is a guided horse ride, followed by a traditional gaucho barbecue – the perfect way to refuel after a day in the saddle.   After two nights of living like a gaucho in the Pampas, you’ll make the short drive back to Buenos Aires for your flight home.
