Regions in Cambodia

Spend a few days in the charismatic capital, Phnom Penh, with its tree-lined boulevards, French-colonial architecture and cafe culture, or head to sleepy fishing villages and unspoilt beaches where you’ll find luxury hotels on the Bay of Thailand for the perfect adventure combining culture, adventure and beach.

Dating back some 600-900 years to the Angkorian era and the times of the famous Khmer Empire, the jungle region that surrounds the town of Siem Reap is made up of around 500 ancient temples. The best known (and preserved) is the world-renowned Angkor Wat - a truly stunning lost world and impressive monument to South-east Asian ancient civilisation.
Phnom Penh is packed with gems; the Royal Palace and National Museum are must-visits on your holiday in Cambodia, while its recent urban development is seeing a raft of boutique hotels lining the riverfront and bistros complimenting the tree-lined boulevards and French colonial buildings that decorate the city.
Head south from Phnom Penh, over the Cardamom and Elephant Hills, and you’ll come to an almost undiscovered coastline. Cambodia is home to some of South East Asia’s best beaches, from the idyllic islands of Sihanoukville to the pristine white sands of Kep and Koh Kong.
The north-east of Cambodia is packed with pristine jungle that has barely been touched. Leave the tourist trail behind and indulge in the natural world at its finest: meet elephants, spot Irrawaddy dolphins in Kratie, see gibbons in the Ratanakiri province, or explore the stunning highlands of Bang Lung.
