Havaianas & Hiking Boots | Brazil | 9 nights

Discover three wild and wonderful sides of Brazil. The buzz of Rio de Janeiro (with some seriously wild nightlife); nature at its most magnificent at the Iguassu Falls; and the vast Pantanal wetlands teeming with wildlife. An irresistible cocktail of wild and wonderful Brazil.

Perfect for… everyone from honeymooners to families, tailor-made to your requirements

When to go… Brazil is an all year round destination, but the big decision should be based on the Pantanal. Dry season is from May/June to October and there is more wildlife at this time. In the wet season the landscapes are amazing and sunsets are even more beautiful. And it’s malaria-free too!

Consider… need a rest after all that wildlife? Fly up to the north of Brazil for some hip beach hotels or if you want even MORE wildlife, continue to the Amazon for a private cruise along its tributaries.

  • We fly you into Rio to begin your journey, starting with a stroll along Ipanema beach and a cooling coconut water as you watch the locals at play. Over your three nights at the Copacabana Palace, you’ll take in live music in the streets of Lapa, join the crowds to watch a football match at the Maracana Stadium and explore the edgy ‘favelas’. For an even more exciting experience, join the party for Carnival on 13 - 16 February in 2010.
  • From the buzz and excitement of Rio you will fly to Iguassu, to Das Cataratas. Here we will send you on a fun boat safari which involves a drive through the subtropical forest and a high speed boat ride to the base of the falls. Warning: you will get drenched! Visit both the Argentinean and Brazilian sides of the falls and take a helicopter ride for a spectacular bird’s eye view.
  • From Iguassu you will fly to the Pantanal, seasonally flooded savannahs and tropical forests, home to anteaters, anaconda, capybara, jaguars, caiman, giant otter, monkeys and over 600 species of birds. By day most excursions are either on horseback or by open jeep, but fishing to catch a piranha and canoeing to observe river wildlife are also options. At night, search out caiman and other nocturnal animals by torchlight.
  • At the end of your four night Pantanal experience the choice is yours. Decide between the glorious beaches of the south and the north, or more wildlife in the Amazon.
