Ancient Incas & Blue-Footed Boobies | Peru & Galapagos | 14 nights
We’re spoiling you here with two of South America’s most jaw dropping highlights on one trip: Machu Picchu and the Galapagos. Our local guides in Peru knows just how to keep the children entertained, while the Young Pirate’s club in Galapagos will make sure the kids make the most of their cruise.
Perfect for… short attention span? Then prepare to be wowed every five minutes on this awesome trip.
When to go… Galapagos is year-round but conditions change and you’ll see different wildlife at different times. Peru gets a bit wet January to March. Call a travel expert for a chat.
Consider… mainland Ecuador often gets overlooked in the race to the Galapagos. Take some time to explore its many charms including stunning Andean scenery and some excellent Amazon lodges.
- The capital Lima is your gateway to Peru. Our itinerary allows just one night here to rest after the flight, ready for the fun to start tomorrow.
- From Lima, Cuzco is a one-hour flight away. You’re transported into some spectacular Andean scenery and the heart of the Inca Empire. We transfer you out to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where the altitude is a little lower so you all have chance to acclimatise.
- The Sacred Valley is a real treat, a picturesque rural area surrounded by mountains and dotted with tiny villages and historic towns. We recommend you take a villa so you can unpack, unwind and enjoy the area. We can arrange pony trekking, bike riding and canoeing for practically all ages.
- From the Sacred Valley, you board the train to Machu Picchu. Our guide shows you the site and you have time to explore your self. The Inkaterra Machu Picchu is a delightful place to spend the night with its extensive orchid gardens and cosy Andean atmosphere.
- The next day, you take the train back to Cuzco, where we give you two nights to explore this cultural gem of a town with original Inca walls, grand plazas and wedding-cake churches. We love the Monasterio hotel for bags of character and sheer luxury.
- Now for your next adventure. We now fly you via Lima to Ecuador’s capital, Quito, a handsome colonial town with heaps of charm. Spend one night here ready for the flight to Galapagos next day.
- With so much wildlife you have to avoid treading on it, a seven-night cruise around the Galapagos Islands brings you quite literally face-to-face with some of the most fascinating species on earth. The new yacht La Pinta is one of the best boats for the job, complete with a Young Pirates club for your junior wildlife experts.
- At the end of your cruise, we fly you back to the mainland in time for your return flights home with lots to tell your friends.
