Anse Chastanet | Anse Chastanet | St. Lucia
Surrounded by lush green jungle (and little else), Anse Chastanet is the place to come if you like your luxury au naturel. Big sister to more luxurious Jade Mountain, this hotel’s dramatic setting with staggering views of the Pitons and back-to-nature rustic chic make it the perfect choice for barefoot beachcombers and nature lovers.
Perfect for… a romantic getaway in natural surroundings with a real taste of the Caribbean.
Where… on the southwest coast of St. Lucia, 45 minutes from Hewanorra airport.
And the rooms… each of the 49 rooms has been lovingly designed with wraparound flower-draped balconies, handmade furniture from local woods and vibrant tropical prints. Some have their fourth wall entirely open to the beautiful vista – yet still manage to be completely private. There’s no television or air-conditioning here: the incredible Piton view provides the entertainment and the trade winds keep evening temperatures under control.
Food and facilities… down on the beach you’ll find a casual bar and restaurant, while on the hillside two treehouses provide the romantic setting for candlelit dinners – often accompanied by local musicians. There’s no pool here but with warm, crystal-clear waters lapping at your toes, you really won’t miss it. The wonderful beachside Kai Belté spa is a real treat for total relaxation and pampering while yoga and fitness sessions keep you in bikini-body shape.
Activities… nature is your playground here with 600 lush, tropical acres to explore and two soft sand beaches. The waters here are some of the best on St. Lucia for snorkeling and diving, while the hotel’s 42ft yacht is the perfect way to enjoy an Anse Chastanet sunset. The hotel also offers tennis, sea kayaking, biking through the jungle, hiking and bird-watching amoung the ruins of an 18th century colonial plantation. Best of all, we like Anse Chastanet’s “do nothing” philosophy that encourages you to slow down, put your feet up and simply admire the view.
In the know… if you’re a little unsteady on your feet, use a wheelchair or simply don’t like walking much, this might not be the property for you – there are 100 steps from the hillside cottages down to the beach.
