| | | | Joys Camp | | Joy's Camp is a luxurious safari camp in Shaba National Reserve in northern Kenya. It is situated at the last place Joy Adamson lived before her murder in 1980. She lived in the reserve with her pet leopard Penny, under large trees and by the reserve’s main watering hole.
The camp is made up of 10 spacious tents, each measuring 80 square metres with a veranda, private deck, en suite bathroom and a separate dressing area and lounge. All the tents overlook the permanent spring.
Shaba National Reserve, which is semi desert and rugged, is northeast of Mount Kenya. Joy’s Camp is only the second property in the reserve, which affords fabulous views of the Shaba hills, and the permanent spring means game are plentiful around the camp. Activities include game drives, bush walks, cultural visits and the camp has its own swimming pool.
