| | | | Hacienda Xcanatun | | The magnificent Hacienda Xcanatún was originally constructed in the middle 18th century as a classic hacienda dedicated to agriculture and livestock. Its colourful history included being owned by a notable local family before becoming one of the most important sisal haciendas in the region.
Located minutes from the centre of Mérida, Xcanatún had fallen into ruins but, after five years of restoration by the Ruz family, this incomparable hacienda lives again. Suites are distributed over three buildings, finished with impressive millwork and elegant furnishings - perhaps even a divan to lounge on. Stunning bathrooms are lined with local marble and ticúl stone, some with either a hydrotherapy tub or a room-for-two carved stone bath with its own waterfall. Porches and terraces flank each room - a welcome spot for morning coffee or pre-dinner cocktails.
