Perfect for… honeymooners who want to combine several elements on their trip but without too much flying – much of the itinerary involves land transfers.

When to go… the rains start in June and last until early November, but think tropical showers not UK drizzle. We tend to avoid September and October when hurricanes are most likely.

Consider… break your journey on the way down in Miami for some South Beach sunshine before the hop down to Mexico.

• We fly you straight to Cancun via Miami, where our guide meets you to transfer you south along the coast to Maroma for four nights of luxury and pampering on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
• Never hacienda-hopped? Then it’s about time you did. The next four nights see you visiting impressive Mayan sites by day and spending your nights in beautifully restored haciendas dotted about the Yucatan Peninsula’s interior.
• After the haciendas, we take you south to Kohunlich, a Mayan site buried in the jungle. You spend three nights at Explorean Kohunlich, a luxury jungle lodge with a chance to abseil, kayak and explore the rainforest.
• From Kohunlich, we fly you to Mexico City for your final three nights in the charismatic capital. Shop ‘til you drop, eat some great food and take in some of Latin America’s finest museums and galleries. Our guide will help you navigate the highlights.
