Honeymooners and groups of castaways.
Sindabezi Island, in the middle of the Zambezi River.
Five open-fronted chalets, hidden amongst lush undergrowth on the sandy soil of Sindabezi Island. Two are perfect for families travelling together, another, hidden at the far end of the island, is ideal for a honeymoon hideaway.
The beauty of life on Sindabezi is its remoteness, so there’s no gym or business centre here. Instead you’ve got the river flowing gently by, leaves rustling overhead and the occasional fisherman waving on his way past. Meals are eaten en famille and often al fresco- delicious home cooking rather than haute cuisine.
Victoria Falls has enough activities to keep adrenaline junkies entertained for a month. There’s white water rafting, bungee jumping and helicopter flights. Those preferring a more sedate pace can enjoy lunch on Livingstone Island on the very edge of the falls, fly fishing, and boat trips along the Zambezi. For full on relaxation, there’s massage, star-gazing and listening for the call of fish eagles overhead.
If you’re lucky enough to be at the falls during the full moon, be sure to visit after dark for the chance to see a lunar rainbow.
