The Quirimbas Archipelago off the remote coast of northern Mozambique. Vamizi Island can only be accessed by light aircraft – 1 hour from Pemba & 2.5 hours from Dar es Salaam.
13 huge villas, set on 8km of private beach, are made from palm thatch and local timber each with their own living room, spectacular bathroom and breezy verandah. Five Villas have two bedrooms making them ideal for family groups.
Meals can be enjoyed in a range of locations, from beachside barbeques, remote island picnics or sophisticated lantern- lit glamour. There’s also “Muntu Nkulu” the South Beach bar and restaurant for those wanting a change of scene.
A host of water based activities are available on Vamizi Island. Diving, snorkelling, blue water and shore-based fishing, sea kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, windsurfing and sunset dhow sailing. Beach picnics can be arranged and holistic therapies and yoga are also on offer.
Vamizi Island has been voted one of the top ten dive sites in the world, noted for its vibrant unbleached coral reefs. See green turtles nesting and hatching throughout the year and humpback whales calving (from July to September). Fishermen will not go disappointed.
