Explore Gorongosa

Gorongosa National Park| Mozambique

There’s more to Mozambique than gorgeous white beaches (though we do have to admit they really aren’t bad). After many years of dormancy, life is returning to the bush, with some of the most exciting and unusual safari experiences on the continent. Explore Gorongosa is our favourite of these. Part conservation project, part bush camp, and wild as wild can be.  For peace, authenticity and a true discovery, we wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Perfect for

Explore Gorongosa is for those who thought they’d seen and done it all.

Where

Gorongosa National Park, deep in the heart of Mozambique. If you meet someone who’s been here, be sure to shake their hand, you’re unlikely to meet another.

Rooms at Explore Gorongosa

This is a bush-lover’s bush camp. It’s unlikely to feature in a Vogue photo shoot any time soon, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Explore Gonrongosa tents are simple and comfortable, the beds are vast and cosy, and the showers are open to the skies.

Food and facilities

Simple, but perfect. The bread is fresh, the fruit is ripe and the company excellent. With a hammock, a campfire, and a cold beer, there’s really very little need for anything else.

Activities at Explore Gorongosa

This isn’t a place to come with a plan or a list of animals to tick off. While you might just do morning and afternoon game drives each day, equally you might find yourself visiting one of the nearby villages, chatting with a ranger about the conservation projects, or leaping out of bed for an early morning bush walk. If there’s been rain, there might be a boat trip, on a clear starry night you might sleep out under a gauze net. Relax, and allow yourself to be guided by nature: welcome to Africa!

In the know

Visiting Gorongosa’s a fascinating, unique experience, but don’t take our word for it. National Geographic has made a whole film about bringing life back to the park- “Africa’s Lost Eden”- watch it and allow yourself to be seduced!
