Cape Maclear, on the edge of Lake Malawi National Park.
There are eight light and airy rooms at Danforth Yachting, set amongst pretty gardens, which look out over the lakeshore. In keeping with the waterside location they’re decorated in crisp blues and whites. All are ensuite and have air-conditioning.
There’s a small infinity pool, a pool table, tennis, darts, and a trampoline. The water sports centre is also amongst the best on the lakeshore.
Where to begin? The magnificent array of water sports on offer includes hobie cat and dingy sailing, snorkelling, diving, waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Kayaking and fishing can be arranged on the lake, and shore-side there’s mountain biking as well as nature walks and birding.
Howard and Michelle, owners of Danforth, also own Mufasa, a live-aboard catamaran. For yachties, we’d definitely recommend a night or two on board, exploring some of the lake’s more distant shores.
